Cryptographic Equipment Assessment Laboratory (CEAL)

One of two CygnaCom laboratories, CEAL has been accredited as a FIPS 140 testing laboratory since June 1995, with over 130 successful module validations from over 40 companies to date. We also work with vendors to certify NIST approved encryption algorithms.

CEAL added NPIVP smartcard applets and middleware testing in 2005 in support of HSPD-12 vendors who provide their products on FIPS 140 validated modules.

In 2008, CEAL worked with the Secure Content Automation Protocol Validation Program Office at NIST to certify systems using the SCAP standards. These products automate the implementation and verification of information system security controls in support of FISMA.

CEAL facilities undergo rigorous NIST NVLAP inspections. CEAL staff are trained and tested to ensure a thorough understanding of all aspects of testing including maintaining confidentiality and keeping our customers in the loop throughout the entire process.
